This French horror series is about a writer who is lured back to her hometown. She struggles with demon spirits and when gets back to her hometown, she discovers that the evil spirits now wreaking the real world. It was released on Friday 13th September.
Based on the true story of Marie, Unbelievable is about a young girl who was charged with lying about having been raped. When the two female detectives investigate, they find a spate of eerily similar attacks. The gripping series is heart-wrenching and filled with great performances by the actors.
8. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance:
Netflix has finally created a prequel to Jim Henson’s beloved fantasy film. The show follows the discovery of the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power and three Gelfling’s heroic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and try to save their world. The follow-up to an iconic movie came out exactly 37 years after the movie. If you’ve ever watched the 1982 Dark Crystal, then this one is a must-watch.
9. Top Boy:
Top Boy first aired in 2011 before being cancelled by Channel 4. And now Netflix has revived the British drama. The show is about drug gangs in Hackney, east London. The story follows the tension between the drug dealers and the people who live in the crime-riddled area. The show combining tense gangster thriller and subtle social realism is honest and engaging.
10. Raising Dion:
Raising Dion is about a single mother raising her young son. The young boy has superpowers and the mother have to hide him from the world while investigating their origins and her husband’s death.
This brilliant movie about a group of journalists in Boston investigating children being molested within the Catholic church is a serious-minded drama that sticks mindfully to the facts. The story from writer/director Tom McCarthy deservingly won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
