While the show Orange Is The New Black ( 105 million viewers ) has become the most-watched original ever on the popular platform, Bird Box (80 million viewers) became the most-watched movie on Netflix. 1. Stranger Things, Season 3 (64 million viewers):
Not at all surprisingly Stranger Things lead the ranking of the most viewed shows on Netflix. According to Netflix, the third season of Stranger Things is the most-watched season of the show. Reportedly, 64 million viewers watched the show in the season’s first four weeks on the platform.
2. The Umbrella Academy (45 million viewers):
The dramatic superhero fiction, The Umbrella Academy was a breakout hit for the streaming giant. The show has been renewed for the second season. According to Netflix, the series earned 45 million views in its first four weeks.
3. Money Heist / La Casa de Papel, Season 3 (44 million viewers):
The show about a criminal mastermind and his team with certain abilities has won praises from most of the critics and audience. The Spanish series premiered in 2017 and aired one season in two separate parts. Netflix said the third season of the show became the most-watched series in its non-English language regions, with 44 million viewers watching.
4. Sex Education (40 million viewers)
The charming British teen comedy about sex and life has earned many hearts across and become one of the biggest hits of this year. In January, Netflix said, this series was watched by 40 million accounts in its first month.
5. You (40 million viewers)
Tying with Sex Education, You also earned 40 million viewers. Starring Gossip Girl famed Penn Badgley as a stalker and killer, You was bound to be a hit, but it also didn’t lower any expectations and turned out to be really interesting. The show originally premiered last fall on Lifetime and landed on Netflix last December. The second season of the show will be a Netflix original.
6. Our Planet (33 million viewers)
The visually stunning and thoughtful documentary series has grabbed quite a lot of viewers. The eight-part series gives us an insight into the natural wonders of mother earth. Netflix said 33 million households watched the nature documentary making it the service’s most-watched original documentary series.
7. Unbelievable (32 million viewers):
The heartwarming limited series based on a true story stars Toni Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever. The show is based on the article by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong which won the Pulitzer Prize in 2015. It was watched by 32 million member households in its first 28 days on Netflix. After its massive success, reportedly, is thinking about turning the true-crime series into a compilation.
8. Dead to Me (30 million viewers)
Dead to Me to about two women, their friendship and the world of secrets and lies around them. The twisty series stars Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini drawing inspiration from Big Little Lies. The show grabbed 30 million viewers in its first month.
9. When They See Us (25 million viewers)
Critically acclaimed Emmy winning miniseries When They See Us features a strong story and fantastic performances. Directed by Ava DuVernay, When They See Us follows the Central Park Five case. In June 2019, DuVernay said that more than 23 million people watched the series. In July, Netflix said the miniseries drew 25 million views in its first four weeks.
10. Elite (20 million viewers)
Another Spanish series that made it to the list, is the series Elite which is about a bunch of rich teens and a mysterious murder. The show earned more than 20 million views in its first four weeks. With multidimensional characters and gripping writing, Elite will keep you hooked.
