American stand-up comedian, actor, and producer, Kevin Darnell Hart is one of the best comedians in Hollywood right now. Hart has won several amateur comedy competitions at clubs before becoming one of the major celebrities today. He even sold shows at one time of his life. Kevin Hart was born on July 6, 1979, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Nancy Hart and Henry Witherspoon. He was raised by his single mother Nancy because his father was in constant legal trouble. Henry Witherspoon spent many stints in jail. He also battled cocaine addiction. Hart also has an older brother named Robert Hart. Kevin used humour as a way to cope with his troubled family life and he also often credited his mother with great respect. Kevin has been married two times. His first wife was Torrei Skipper whom he married in 2003. The couple had a daughter named Heaven and a son named Hendrix. The couple got divorced in 2010 and Kevin got remarried in 2016 to Eniko Parrish. They have a son named Kenzo Kash.

Kevin moved to Brockton, Massachusetts after college and became a shoe salesman. Hart once said he was pretty good at selling footwear. He even almost bagged a job with Nike. But he chose to follow his heart and quit his job. Kevin also tried to make his own music. He dropped a mixtape entitled Kevin Hart: What Now? and there he appears as Chocolate Droppa, his alter ego.  

3. Professional Life:

Hart first appeared on-screen with the FOX sitcom Undeclared as Lucien. The show was created by Hart’s friend Judd Apatow. Hart also appeared in the music video for “Lean Back” by the hip hop group Terror Squad. Which became one of the biggest hits of 2004. Hart also appeared in music videos for artists including T-Pain, Trey Songz, and J. Cole. Think Like a Man was Hart’s first major movie. Then came the hit movie Ride Along. The 2004 television sitcom The Big House had Kevin as its lead. Hart’s Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain earned a lot of praises and became a turning point for his career.  

4. Kevin Is A Running Enthusiast:

In 2017, Kevin Hart completed the New York City Marathon in just over 4 hours as well as the Chicago Marathon in 2018. Seeing his interest in running, he was offered a deal with Nike which he gladly took. He regularly leads special 5k runs in cities. You can also find his voice on the Nike+ Run Club app. 

5. He Is Quite Short:

Other comedians and even Kevin himself often make a joke about Kevin’s height. Hart is reportedly only 5’2” tall. Heart career also kicked off quite slowly. He used got booed off stage frequently.

6. His Hosting Duties:

Kevin Hart has hosted three episodes of the series Saturday Night Live. But he was invited to audition for SNL earlier in his career but he failed. He also hosted various awards shows including BET Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Movie Awards. He was also part of the Comedy Central roast of Justin Bieber. He presented the CBS obstacle course competition series TKO: Total Knock Out. He launched his own streaming app called Laugh Out Loud. 

7. Controversies:

Hart has been involved in his fair share of scandals. In 2017, Kevin Hart was accused of having an extramarital affair. His second wife was pregnant at that time. And top of that his friend, actor Jonathan Todd Jackson, AKA Action Jackson was trying to get money from him claiming that he had video evidence of his affair. Jackson was charged by the LA district attorney. Hart did later apologize for his moral violation. Kevin Hart has also attracted a lot of attention because of his attempts to climb Hollywood’s celebrity social ladder. And his jealousy of other celebs. In 2013, Hart was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. He almost got into an accident with a tanker truck.   

8. He Helped A Lot Of Students:

Hart made a donation of $250,000 to the Philadelphia school district in 2013. In 2015, Hart made a contribution of $100,000 in scholarships for four students. He also helped 18 students by partnering with the United Negro College Fund pledging $600,000 in scholarship money. 

9. Success At Box Office:

Kevin Hart has become quite a successful star in Box Office. Almost all of his recent movies have made over $1.9 billion. In 2017, the movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle which had Kevin Hart and The Rock, made over $400 million worldwide. Hart has also become a regular in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. Hart has won many awards across his career including several People’s Choice, Kids’ Choice, and Teen Choice Awards. He even earned his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2016.

10. He Doesn’t Like To Joke About Some Sensitive Topics:

And by sensitive topics we mean, rape and homosexuality. Although Kevin Hart has been involved in some tweeter battles, he doesn’t like to joke about those subjects.
