Back to the Future and its sequel Back to the Future Part II are two of the classic movies. The 1985’s original by filmmaker Robert Zemeckis’ follows the story of Marty who travels back in time with a mission to make his parents fall in love. And in the sequel, Marty Mcfly travels back in time and the adventures begin. Back to the Future is one of the best time travel movies ever. It’s well written and well-executed premise earned a lot of praises. And although the sequel couldn’t reach the height of the original, it certainly didn’t ruin the franchise.
2. Groundhog Day (1993):
Groundhog Day took a hilarious take on the concept of time travelling. Bill Murray shined in the movie with his excellent acting. The story of Phil who goes to the town of Punxsutawney for an assignment and realises that he is relieving the same day again and again.
3. Twelve Monkeys (1995):
Filmmaker Terry Gilliam who also made another great time travel movie Time Bandits gave us one of the best time travel movies, Twelve Monkeys. Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis both did a great job playing their part. The story follows convict James Cole who was sent on a mission where he has to travel back in time to learn about the main reason behind the outbreak of a virulent holocaust. And his journey results in a dirty and unforgettable experience.

Ethan Hawke played an agent travels through time with a mission to stop criminals from going through with their crimes in the movie Predestination. Ethan Hawke shined in the movie. The plot’s attention to detail, twists will grab your attention and make you think.

An amazing anime about a school girl named Makoto discovers a device that gives her the ability to physically leap through time. At first, she uses her abilities to her advantage then she starts to realise how her time travelling is affecting those around her.

James Cameron’s groundbreaking 1984 sci-fi actioner The Terminator put the bar high for the other movies of the same genre. Many people tend to forget that the robotic character played by Arnold Schwarzenegger came from the future. The movie had a promising plot and great actors. The sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, was even better with buddy comedy, PTSD drama, and relationship stories into this sci-fi actioner, differentiating it from the original.

Donnie Darko has become a cult classic, one of the best movies made on this sub-genre. Donnie Darko played by Jake Gyllenhaal gets informed the world will end in 28 days by a figure in a bunny costume. Donnie Darko takes time but once you wrap your head around the movie, you will surely like it.
