10 Best Places To Live In The UK

2019 Sunday Times guide has released its report of the best places to live in the UK. Using their expert knowledge, judging panels alongside statistics, including house prices, school league tables, employment opportunities and air quality levels, they have reached the decision that Salisbury in Wiltshire is the best place to live in the UK. They have also listed the regional winners. Halifax Quality of Life Survey also released their report of the best places to live in the UK, which was topped by Orkney in Scotland. Down below we are going to take a look at both of the ranking.
The Best Place To Live In The UK (2019)- According To Sunday Times

Salisbury, Wiltshire:


“This cathedral city is divinely attractive, has a distinguished history and offers top-class schooling, but this year we’re honouring its resurgent community spirit — and its glorious surrounds” the report stated. From the unfortunate incident of the Novichok poisoning attack, Salisbury came our strong and emerged victoriously. This beautiful medieval city has a great location for the coast, countryside and London and home to some of the best schools in the southwest. The city also has a thriving marketplace and rich culture.
And The Regional Winners Are ( in no particular order):

1. Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk (best in the East):


“A friendly, lively place that’s easy on the eye and wears its colourful history on its billowing sleeve,” the report said. Bury St Edmunds has become a buzzy cultural hub without losing its true self. It’s home to the UK’s only working Regency playhouse. From the Apex arts centre to the Hunter jazz club, Bury St Edmunds is a fun and cosy place to live.

2. Isle of Dogs, London (best in London):


“In the loop and on the up, this Docklands district offers Thames-side living at reasonable prices (at least for zone 2).” The Isle of Dogs is the best place to live in London. It is close to the city and with its riverside, converted wharf buildings and parks, the large peninsula, Isle of Dogs is a great place to live.

3. Edale, Derbyshire (best in the Midlands):


“This Peak District village isn’t just the start of the Pennine Way: it’s a creative community with a rare sense of humour.” Fun, friendly and enthusiastic, Edale is the best place to live in the Midlands in the UK.

4. York, North Yorkshire (best in the North & Northeast):

5. Holywood, Co. Down (best in Northern Ireland):

6. Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria (best in the Northwest):

8. Petworth, West Sussex (best in the Southeast):


The small town and civil parish, Petworth is pretty and traditional. Historic houses, the surrounding South Downs countryside, the antique shops and much more makes this place the best place to live in the Southeast of the UK. The report said, “This upwardly mobile South Downs hotspot has thrown off its fusty reputation in style.”

9. Topsham, Devon (best in Southwest):


According to the report, Devon is, “Independently minded (and independently wealthy), this port town is an ideal berth. Just don’t call it a suburb of Exeter”. Topsham was once Britain’s second busiest port, now standing tall with its Seventeenth-century Dutch gabled mansions and cottages.

10. Crickhowell, Powys (best in Wales):


“Top of our shopping list in Wales, the market town has the best high street in the UK thanks to its enterprising locals” the report stated. The high street of Crickhowell was named the best in Britain last year. Crickhowell was in the historic county of Brecknockshire.
