Cities or towns whose economy and culture are broadly affected by the local universities and colleges are known as college towns. There are thousands of degree-granting colleges and graduate schools across the US. There are various ways to judge a town and everyones ways and prospective could be different. So, the college town best for me not necessarily would be the best town for someone else. There are also questions like if you are moving there for a few years or planning to stay for longer. So, this list of the top 10 best college towns in the US is based on the list made by the USA TODAY with 24/7 Wall St.
They used data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey and identified the 30 best college towns in the country. The ideal college town would be affordable, with culturally vibrant communities, and a healthy economy and a young, well-educated population. On this list, we’ve named the top 10 Best College Towns In The US according to USA TODAY.

1. Ames, Iowa:

Best known for being the home of Iowa State University, Ames is the best college town in the US. Leading in Agriculture, Design, Engineering and more, Ames has an unemployment rate of 1.5%. Iowa State University is one of the largest schools in the country and majorly affects the employment rate in the town. It is the only town where more than 45% of residents are enrolled in college or graduate school, while its population is around 66,000. There are 2 educational institutions and 62.7% of the adults have a bachelor’s degree in the town.

Not only a beautiful city but also one of the best college towns in the country. Bloomington is home to one of the largest schools in the U.S., Indiana University. Known for its many museums reflecting the art and culture, Bloomington has a young population. The unemployment rate is 3.9% while 56.8% of adults hold a bachelor’s degree in the town.

College Station is home to the main campus of Texas A&M University, one of the largest higher educational institutions by enrollment in the U.S. In the city, over 40% of the population is enrolled in college and 55.8% of the adult residents have a bachelor’s degree. The city’s unemployment is 2.9%.

While these were the top college towns ranked by USA Today, there were many other lists rakings too. Some of the other college towns that made it to the top 10 in other rankings are- Boulder, Madison, Ithaca, Berkely, Chapel Hill, Athens, Manhattan, Greenville, State College, Corvallis. Cambridge and Newton, Evanston, Hanover, Princeton, Granville, Columbia, Davidson and Irvine are some other towns that were ranked in the top ten.
